“We'd just flown in on a red eye flight. Micchy was brilliant at promptly responding to messages, and since we arrived earlier than expected, she was able to accommodate and come pick us up from our hotel earlier to start the tour. For sight-seeing, she gave us options of where we could visit, in view of our exhaustion. We picked Nanzou-in. 30min drive out of Fukuoka city - perfect for a quick nap. During the journey, she was very personable, friendly. Really showed interest in wanting to know us, where we came from, our culture, expectations etc and shared hers in return. Once there, we saw a large reclining buddha statue and many other shrines etc. all set into the side of a hill. Good hiking area. Next, as per my request, we went to Fukuoka Tower to rent/dress up in Kimonos! Most places only rent Yukatas in Summer, but I specifically asked for the formal Kimonos and it was provided for very kindly by Micchy who had found this rental. Very affordable Y2000 for 1h, including a ticket up the Tower which gave panoramic views. Unforgettable experience! Next, we headed to Chieko's for our cooking class which was at her home, which made for a very comfy dining experience. We were first greeted by a set up table with fine-dining-style aperitifs! Then we were shown how to make tamagoyaki, tempura, tonkatsu (which we specifically requested for, as my parents were not that keen on sushi), finished up with some mochi dessert, and a matcha tea ceremony in a beautiful corner of the house. Both were able to guide us through thoroughly re. Japanese culture/specific ingredients/recipes and answered our questions. Very enthusiastic throughout! Overall, both ladies were incredibly professional, yet personable, and were happy to teach/share so much about Japanese culture. The biggest plus is how customisable it all was! I'd highly recommend this tour to everyone! Thank you so much Micchy and Chieko for making our short time in Fukuoka so meaningful! ”

“The walking tour is a nice way of exploring the city. Started off the day by meeting our very warm tour guide Michi. We walked around the city, short walks, hitting 4 destinations (2 Temples, Small Museum and her friend's place where we had lunch Destinations within the vicinity of our hotel but I'm definite we couldn't have found on our own. The highlight of the trip is when we went through a tunnel that showed different kinds of hell and a pitch black tunnel looking for that one way ticket straight to heaven. And with a tour guide like Michi, you can not go wrong with the tour. She effortlessly made it a two way conversation rather than it was her talking and us asking, felt like a natural conversation. Also the food was very great! Never knew making sushi was that easy but doing it right can take quite some time. Overall we had a great day! ”

“Micchy's guided tour of Hakata and Chieko's cooking demonstration was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Interacting with local residents and being fortunate to have these ladies invite you into their home for an amazing meal, sake tasting, and cooking class was truly special. Micchy provided local insight into old Hakata and answered all of my questions during our walking tour. After the tour, I was invited into Chieko's home for sake tasting, a lunch consisting of various traditional dishes prepared by Chieko, a cooking class where I was able to make my own Maki sushi, and finishing with a traditional tea ceremony. The food was amazing and the experience was one of a kind. This is my second tour with Locomomochi and I look forward to another experience with these fun and knowledgeable ladies. ”
